An Adventure that Never Grows Old
Old Abe spent three years with Union troops fighting in states bordering the southern Mississippi River. His courage, his piercing screams rising above the din of cannon fire, and his exploits during Civil War combat became legendary. His ability to inspire his human comrades once led a southern general to offer a reward for the eagle, dead or alive.
Old Abe saw action in many Civil War encounters, including the famed siege of Vicksburg where the North gained control of the Mississippi River.
